Canada Day (French: Fête du Canada) is the national day of Canada, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act, 1867 (today called the Constitution Act, 1867), which united three colonies into a single country called Canada within the British Empire. Originally called Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération), the holiday was renamed in 1982, the year the Canada Act was passed. Today is a statutory holiday, and like many other Canadians, we’re not working (very hard) either. But the editors here at 2P News would like to wish all of you canucks a Happy Canada Day! We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everybody, near and far, across the globe, for taking time to read and share 2P News content – it warms the cockles of our hearts.
And in true Canadian fashion, there are a few things for which we are truly sorry (and we speak on behalf of all Canadians). We regret creating, or having anything to do with the following things or people who have reached beyond our borders and spread their cancerous filth like gangrene upon the world:
