Pub lunch costs Bendovus Energy millions

CALGARY, Alberta – Bendovus Energy is feeling the sting of carelessness this week, as a land deal has been approved and paid for without anyone in the company realizing it.

Rube Resources, a junior company based out of Edmonton, has sold its entire Old Oak light oil play to Bendovus for $450,000,000 – all thanks to a controversial deal that bears the signature of CEO Dèng Xiǎopíng Dòngbīn, but apparently without his full knowledge.

I am ashamed to say that this deal was brokered under my nose, and as they say in my country, in my chest hair.  The deal was made without my full knowledge or the knowledge of any of our 37 Vice Presidents, all of whom were as surprised as I was when we heard of the transaction.  However, we will make the best of the field, as we are Bendovus.  And there is nothing we can’t do with our money and technical resources. – Dèng Xiǎopíng Dòngbīn, Bendovus CEO

According to sources close to the Calgary-based major oil producer, after a lunch meeting at Local, a Stephen Avenue pub and favourite of Dèng Xiǎopíng, the bill was left on the table for the server to collect.  A landman from Rube Resources, who still denies any involvement, took the receipt and used it to create land sale documents of the Old Oak play from Rube to Bendovus.  

It just so happens that Local offers an Old Oak crusting sandwich, and when serve with a light beer, the receipt looks very much like a land sale agreement.  Add to that the CEO’s signature on the bottom and the temptation must have been too much.  

I was there for lunch but I never took the receipt or forged the paperwork.  Those guys from Bendovus were yelling and throwing chicken wings, bragging about how important they are, when I dared them to buy Old Oak from me.  They took a collection and offered me $436.96.  I laughed and almost left, when Dèng cut me a cheque and wrote a receipt on a napkin.  Thats how it went down.  I promise. – Joe Adam Sheegh, Rube Resources Land Negotiator 

Bendovus Energy has not announced plans for the aging 52 BOEPD field, but promises it can once again be the crown jewel in the region surrounding Didsbury.
